By descent from the grandmother of the current owner.

Born in Dublin, William Roe moved to Cork in 1835. He lived at 78 Grand Parade and sent sketches of Irish life and landscapes and portraits to the Royal Hibernian Academy for exhibition. Works by him were hung in the Cork exhibition of 1852.
