Bewleys ship in bottle. A ship-in-a-bottle model of a tea clipper, representing The Hellas, the ship chartered by Samuel and Charles Bewley in 1835 to break the East India Company's monopoly on importation of tea into Ireland. In Hamilton Long and Co. bottle, 9¼" (23.5cm) long, on timber stand.
Provenance: Gifted by the Bewley family to a former housekeeper of their home Willow Park, Blackrock, purchased by the current owner from her daughter.
